learn how to drive

Kinja'd!!!

or just don’t be a colossal bitch

I’m the green line, taking a right, on a green. the grumpy crusty bitchass was taking the left. One would expect for her to follow the blue path, but no, crusty bitchass decided to cut me off by taking the red path.

so I do what you do in the green but im 90% sure its not legal. you have to yield to traffic. with that said they are in the wrong as well and you shouldn’t change lanes mid intersection

Holy shit, they are stupid - making that left turn from the wrong side of the divider. Good thing you weren’t going straight.

I have no idea what the rules are wherever you are, but here I was taught to always turn into the left-hand lane - right-hand for you lot - when joining a multi-lane road. We don’t permit turning left on a red light, though.

we both had greens, it was the dumb lane maneuver that pissed me off

If she had a yield on green and turned left like that while you had a green to turn right, obviously she is in the wrong and I understand your frustration. Left hand turners have to yield to everything when they have yield on green.

I once had someone turn on left with a yield on green while I was turning right with a green light into the same lanes and they honked at ME. I was like bitch...please, you have to yield to me, dumbass. Don’t honk at me if you don’t know the goddamn rules. Rant over.

Similar thing happened to me yesterday. Except the left turning driver decided that since I was the one car in a rather spread out line of cars turning right, and they were in such an important hurry, that they had the right of way (no arrow, just turn on green when clear, both directions had green) and tried to cut me off. Key word being tried, I won. The guy behind me going straight at the intersection did not like the left turning idiot thusly cutting him off. Lots of horns. Good times.

Well, if she was crossing your path, seems you ought to have right of way - but turning into the lane you ought to be using seems right to me, and round here you’re supposed to use the left-hand lane unless overtaking.

I don't know about where you are, but here that's perfectly legal. They are supposed to turn into one lane, you are supposed to turn into the other, so as (theoretically) there is no conflict you can both turn.

They both had green lights, he was the traffic. I’m pretty sure it’s law (at least here) that straight and right turns have the right of way over left turns.

Look at this cockstain. And yes, you SHOULD have the right of way, if you both had a green light. Left turning motorists should ALWAYS yield to right turning oncoming traffic in most state laws I have seen. And it varies by state, but in mine, left turns from the left most lane must be completed by using the leftmost lane on the road being turnt to.

yea she should have gone to the left lane and I was going to the right. she should have either yielded or driven correctly

Whether they had an arrow vs. no arrow makes all the difference in this scenario.

Opposite lane or not, it’s a dick move that I HATE TOO!

I also hate this maneuver. This happens to me about half the time I go through this intersection. I always hang a little behind the (blue line) car in the left lane with my hand on the horn, waiting for them to slide right over into my lane. About five or six times now my horn blast has made them jump back over to their side of the road and come to a panic stop.

Now I’m confused. Did you mean your left or our left? I was saying that in your example you should both have turned into the lane marked with the red arrow, by our rules.

After people waiting to turn left at a two way stop who think the person across from them who wants to go straight but who arrived at the intersection after they were already there have the right of way, I hate people who make turns like this the most, as well as the people so sit waiting to make a right turn when they have an open lane just because they aren’t sure if the fuck wad turning left is going to drift across into their lane. Oh, and toss in people who either don’t signal when they are making a turn, or signal at the last second while I’m waiting to go through an intersection. If I was supreme leader I’d incinerate all of their licences.

we were both turning into the street to head to the east, she should have taken the left of the two lanes but decided to cut across into the right lane which is where I was heading

Typically the person turning across an intersection (left) has the least rights of way and is supposed to yield. Both of them had green lights.

Going back to my first comment, I have no idea what your local rules say. But round here you should both turn into the red-arrowed lane, and she would have to wait for you.

Really, I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer to this. Just different ways of doing things, and whether everyone understands what other people will do.
